Wave Rider 1.10 Release Notes
=============================
The differences between Wave Rider 1.10 and 1.01 are numerous.
The most obvious change is the ability of the user to change the look
and feel of the program dramatically.
Wave Rider 1.10 now allows three different sizes of tools, and added a
Toolbox.
Definition: Toolbox - floating Toolbar, resizable. NOTE: the Toolbox
does not "dock", it is free floating.
Both the Toolbar and Toolbox can be configured to display any menu
item. Most (99.9%) of the menu items have equivalent icons. If you end
up with a blank grey icon in your Toolbar or Toolbox, it is because
the icon for it does not exist. View Status Bar is one of these.
Changes to the Toolbar and Toolbox are immediate.
Caution: If you "lose" your floating Toolbar, it may be because it is
physically located off your screen. This may happen occasionally. To
fix this, edit your WaveRdr.ini file, and remove the section titled
[Toolbox].
Hard Coded Settings
===================
Wave Rider 1.10 now hard codes the number of characters you view on
the screen to 79 characters in View mode, and 75 characters in Reply
mode. This way, there won't be funny wrapping that can characterize
earlier versions of Wave Rider.
Accelerator Keys
================
You can now redefine your accelerator keys. The menu choice is Options,
Accelerators. NOTE: You must choose Assign to get the changes to
"stick".
Single character key remapping only works in READ mode, not reply
mode.
If you redefine the SPACE bar, it will only do ONE THING! <g> You can
have it replace the page down key, but it WON'T go to the next
message.
File Interaction
================
The File Open dialog box now has additional functionality.
You can delete and rename packets.
Changes in Printing
===================
Wave Rider now prints messages with the font you are viewing with.
Changes in Setup
================
WRUZ.EXE is the default zipper/unzipper when user doesn't have
an .ini file.
%f%> is the default message quote string.
Fixes between 1.10 and 1.01
===========================
Wave Rider was not quoting the very last line in a message. It now
does.
When attempting to import a text file that was over 32k, Wave Rider gave
you no error message, it just didn't do it. Wave Rider now tells you
that the file you want to import will go over 32k, do you still want
to import it as a truncated file.
Fixed problem in Printer Setup when you changed printers, Wave Rider
didn't remember that you had changed it. When printing, you now print
with the font you are reading with.
Speeded up opening of large messages quite a bit, from 1.2 minutes to
about 45 seconds. (1,000 line message) Not that big of a difference,
but we be tryin'!
Changed tab order in message header window
Added Delete Packet On Exit Option.
Saves State of View Status Bar and View Tool Bar
Fixed Multiple signature bug in qwk replies.
Added Delete and Rename buttons to file open dialog box.
Twitted messages now are treated as "read" when changing areas.
WrapAt now set internally, 79 characters for reading, and 75
characters for writing messages.

Wave Rider 1.01 Release Notes
=============================
Features Added
==============
1. Carbon Copy.
Blind Carbon Copy (no cc: line) is now available when replying. To
access Carbon Copy, choose Carbon copy from the Messages menu.
There is no button or hot key for this feature.
You will be shown two list boxes, which you can populate either by
opening a saved text file or by typing in names in the text box
above the left list box. After you have populated the left list
box, choose OK to send the multiple messages.
2. Saving of window size.
With the release of 1.01, WaveRdr now remembers the window size of
opened message packets and reply windows.
How to use: resize the window you want to save the size of.
Warning! Maximized window setting are not saved. WaveRdr saves the
underlying window size.
You will see two additional sections in your WaveRdr.ini file,
[Write Window]
Left=3
Top=0
Right=1001
Bottom=656
[Read Window]
Left=5
Top=6
Right=1015
Bottom=665
These settings were created on a 1024x768 screen, your sizing may
vary.
Fixes
=====
1. Changed several spelling errors in dialog boxes, and in one case,
add the word not as in " .. you must NOT use a root directory as a
temp directory..".
2. Fixed problem with long headers in control.dat (QWK)
3. Fixed problem with quoting, words wrapping to next line.
4. Fixed problem with QWK taglines missing one character.
5. Fixed bulk text exports. The right number of messages were
exported, but not the correct ones.
Frequently Asked Questions
==========================
Q: How do I delete a reply?
A: Replies are stored in a virtual area called "Replies."
1. Choose Replies from the Areas menu. This makes Replies your active
window.
2. Choose List from the Messages menu.
3. Highlight the message you want to delete in that list box.
4. Choose Delete.
Q: How do I move from the top of the reply window to the bottom
without using my mouse?
A: The bottom window of the reply is a pane, to change panes, use the
F6 function key.
Q: Why does WaveRdr convert messages packets to BlueWave format
before opening?
A: It was easier to code that way. If we had included both native
file formats, the resulting executible would have been much
larger.
Q: Why do QWK taglines only allow 57 characters, and BlueWave
taglines allow 70 characters?
A: During early beta testing, every packet format could use 70
characters. However, the ... sequence BlueWave taglines use at
the beginning of each line caused some mail tossers to puke, so we
hard coded 57 characters in QWK mode.
Q: Why do replies take forever to come up?
A: Wave Rider loads the tagline file in each time you reply to a
message. If you have a large number of taglines, it will take
longer for Wave Rider to display the Reply window.
Q: Can I register via credit card?
A: You sure can. Crystal Cavern has a credit card door on line to take
your order. Choose W from the main menu. Or, you can send your
credit card information via mail.
Q: What language is Wave Rider written in? Why is the unzipper a
Visual Basic application?
A: WaveRdr is written 100% in Visual C++ version 1.5. WRUZ.exe, the
zipper/unzipper was written with code we purchased from EllTech.
Their C routines are not available yet. Once they become
available, WRUZ's functionality will be added to WaveRdr.
Q: How do I get my Ansi bulletins?
A: AnsiView is the ansi viewer spawned by WaveRdr. Choose View, Ansi
Message. You will then be given a menu of the most common files.
Q: Why can't I see all of my messages when using standard VGA?
A: Wave Rider is hard coded to display 79 characters per line when
viewing messages. On some video displays, VGA, you won't be able
to see all of the line using a terminal font. There are several
other font choices that will work well. If you are a registered
user of Procomm Plus for Windows, it comes with additional TT
fonts that you can install into your global font lists via the
Control Panel.
NOTE: This archive now contains an updated version of AnsiView. Fixes
problems with mail packets that have over 25 bulletins in QWK mode.
